Memorialization

Honouring
your companion.

After the euthanasia visit, you have several options for your pet’s aftercare. We’ll discuss each with you and help you decide what feels right.

01

Home Burial

If your property and local by-laws allow, you may choose to bury your pet at home. Please be mindful of a few important details:

  • Confirm that home burial is permitted under your municipal by-laws.
  • Avoid burying near power lines, gas lines, or water pipes.
  • Dig at least 6 feet deep to discourage wildlife or other pets from accessing the burial site.
  • The euthanasia solution (pentobarbital) is toxic to any animal that might unintentionally ingest it.
02

Communal Cremation

In a communal cremation, your pet is cremated alongside other pets, and the ashes are not returned. This is a respectful and dignified option that many families choose.

03

Private Cremation

In a private cremation, your pet is cremated individually and their ashes are returned to you. You can choose to receive the ashes in a simple scatter box or a more personalized urn. The crematorium will contact you directly to arrange delivery.

Aftercare partner

To be confirmed: Details of our cremation partner in the East Kootenay region — including their urn options and any costs — will appear here once finalized.
